We’ve been lucky enough to live in our sweet little bungalow for the last three years. We rent, so there isn’t a ton we can do to our home. But we’ve managed to make our home ours and incorporate our style into our home. Since we just refreshed the space, I wanted to talk about 7 ways to decorate a bathroom that you don’t love.
Whether you live in a rental or you cannot afford to change out the lighting, vanity and walls, here are a few designer tips and tricks to make a space look beautiful without breaking the bank.
7 Ways To Decorate A Small Bathroom
- Add A New Mirror
We recently DIY’d our gorgeous knock-off gleaming primrose mirror. You can find the blog here. It was such an inexpensive way to add our personality into our small bathroom, and it was under fifty dollars for the entire project!
2. Add Art
Art doesn’t have to be expensive. We thrifted all of the art you see in our bathroom. The total cost for all four pieces was under thirty dollars. You can easily upcycle a frame by spray painting it and changing out the art. I like to use command strips to stick it on the wall so you can forgo nail holes!
3. Add A Low Pile Rug
I know I know, rugs in the bathroom….ewww. But think of adding a low pile rug that you can throw in the wash. I recently purchased this rug and it’s so low pile that it fits in the wash and I can hang it to dry.
There’s a whole line of these low pile rugs and I’ve linked my favourite ones below.
4. Change Out The Lighting
Below are a ton of inexpensive lighting to add to your bathroom. Think outside the box, your lighting doesn’t have to be traditional bathroom lighting.
5. Paint Your Vanity
Prior to us moving in our Landlords updated this gorgeous master bathroom. Sadly the finish on the vanity they purchased was starting to wear, so I decided to paint it and it made this vanity look brand new!
When painting a bathroom vanity you want to make sure you’re using a proper paint finish that can deal with moisture and make sure you seal it!
I painted this vanity in “sketch” from Sico Paints.
6. Add Florals
Adding faux or real florals can add so much texture to your bathroom. Especially if you cannot paint, it’s an easy way to infuse colour into a space.
The above faux hydrangeas we picked up at Homesense Canada for 5.99 per stem.
7. Add a Decorate Towel Rack
I’m sure most of us have the standard ugly towel rack in our bathrooms. Try changing things up and adding metal or wood hooks to give your space more modern look.
