This week on Vancouver Island, we’ve been given the best gift – warmth and sunshine. We decided to take full advantage of the warmth, and on Wednesday, we started prepping our deck by washing it so we could start repainting the wood decking. Although we’ve done a makeover on this deck all three years we’ve lived here, this is more of a coastal deck makeover.
First thing is first, the colour we used on our deck is Dorian Grey from Sherwin Williams. We used their decking paint called SuperDeck.
Since our deck is rotting and holding on by its last threads, we didn’t strip the existing paint off as that would have been a whole lot of work for nothing.
Since the decking is rotting, the panelling we put up two years ago is not completely straight. It’s so hard – if it were our home, we would have loved to build a deck from scratch. But we’re just not wanting to put that kind of money into a rental.
Since our home is very small, we always make this our second living room during the warmer months. We love to hang out on our deck, eat meals out in our yard and watch the kids play in the pool.
I’m not sure how long this beige rug will last with four little humans, but it’s nice in the photos – haha!
Unfortunately I cannot link the rug as I cannot find it. We got it last year and had it in storage since last fall.
I love our coastal deck makeover. It’s our little tropical oasis during the crazy we now call our world.
Right as I finished photographing the deck, the kids and the neighbour kids came over to roast s’mores over the fire. I still haven’t checked to see if my rug made it out alive.
I’d love to hear what you think of our coastal deck makeover!
