Good Morning and hope you’re all having a really great weekend. This past month has been such a blur with all the traveling and appointments for our little Rhett and I wanted to share with you our newest experience, staying at the Sheraton Vancouver Wall Centre.
If you have a child or baby with special needs or conditions and have to travel often for appointments you know how costly it can be – even if your hotel is covered, the food, gas, ferry and everything in between seems to add up like crazy. This trip we had some of the costs covered by Cameron’s Cause, a non profit fund in Campbell River dedicated to helping those who live in school district 72 with medical and out of town costs like food, traveling etc. I decided to add them into our blog because I know so many might not know about their services. You have to apply and have a doctors note, doctors appointments and a letter explaining the reason for assistance. You can find more information about their assistance and cause on their website, linked above.
We’re so blessed to have some amazing doctors at Children’s Hospital in Vancouver, but it’s quite the venture for our little family of six. I wanted to do a little review on the Sheraton Vancouver Wall Centre because they exceeded my expectations by FAR.
If you follow me on my Instagram you will know that I’ve done a few collaborations with hotels. Collaboration means that I promote them on my blog / social media in exchange for a gifted stay. It’s been by far one of the biggest blessings to us as the travel costs are extremely taxing on our income. That being said, this was so much more than a straight trade. This hotel really goes above and beyond in how they treat their guests. From us checking in, to the little surprises that were given to us along they way. They treat their customers like they WANT to see them again. You leave the hotel wanting to go back because you were treated so well and just want to experience it again.
This review is so much more than a review, but from our hearts.
The last few years have been hard. It’s been the kind of hard that most people deal with in 20-30 years and we’ve taken it all in stride within a few years. We haven’t been able to afford to leave the province, much less stay in a beautiful 4 star hotel like the Sheraton Vancouver Wall Centre, so this little trip completely filled up my empty cup. I honestly don’t think the hotel staff knew how much they were doing for us.
When we first checked in, they went above and beyond and gave us valet service as part of our stay. When you have 4 kids and have more bags than humans, this is such a treat. They gathered all of our stuff and brought it up to our room for us, so all we had to do was walk ourselves up – they also parked our car for us in the underground parking.
Once we got to our room, there was a wonderful surprise for us – I only captured it with my cellphone as the kids dove in immediately. But there was Starbucks mugs: Canada and Vancouver, yummy treats for the kids, a free movie pass and this special little goodie bag.http://www.whitepicketfarmhouse.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/02/img_3922-1.mov
After we opened that package we put the kiddos in bed and ordered some room service, which by the way was so delicious. Again, no pictures because at that point we had been in the car for eight hours.
The next day we woke up and realized that we had the opportunity to have a complimentary breakfast, which was right down the hall from us in the Club Lounge. We found out that this room was open 24/7 and was full of beverages, treats and they served the most delicious breakfast every morning and between 5-8 they served dinner and appy treats. This was one of our favourite perks of the hotel as eating out as a family of six is the most expensive part of traveling. When we got home from our trip yesterday we asked our kids what their most favourite part of the trip was and our middle son ( Cai who is almost 8 ) said the Club Lounge. He loves to eat, it’s true.. 😉
Our sister came to visit us for a few hours on the last day we were there and she took the kids for a swim and for cookies after in the lounge.
We got to stay on the 25th floor in the South Tower and our hotel overlooked the harbour and so many areas of downtown. We also had a private balcony that we actually didn’t use a ton as half the time we were there it was snowing – but the views from the deck were so beautiful!
We also got to celebrate Rhett’s first birthday on the second day we were there. Which is quite fitting because on the same day last year, we were in the NICU for eight days.
On the second day of our stay. Caitlin, who Is Sheratons Community Coordinator, took us up to the 34th floor where the Constellation Suite was. The wrap around decks and views were breath taking. We had planned to go back up and take more photos, but we ended up being too busy. But next time. You can actually rent this floor out for parties like engagements and such. It would make for such stunning photos!
The above photo was taken from our deck. Such beautiful views! The Vancouver Sheraton Wall Centre is the 4th tallest building in all of Vancouver.
One the third day we were there, after we got home from the Vancouver Aquarium, I snapped some photos of the kids in their robes. We decided to watch a movie and have some treats as we had been running around for the three days prior. It’s so fun to treat our kids to these special experiences as you can see their eyes twinkle with excitement. The boys are so silly and rarely pose for a pictures, so this was one in a million. The other ten photos they are making goofy faces. Between the two rooms in our suites, there was a living room with two chairs, a sofa and an additional TV. This is also where Brinley slept as she refused to sleep in the same room as the boys.
On the last day we were there we woke up to the best surprise ever – complimentary room service to our room and they extended our check out to 4 PM. We soaked this up and didn’t check out until 3.
We took the kids for another swim in the pool, went for a walk and grabbed a treat at the nearest coffee shop.
All in all, I would recommend this hotel in a heartbeat! If you’re wanting to be right downtown, walking distance from everything, be treated like royalty and having everything at your fingertips – this is your hotel.
Our kids just want to go back and I don’t blame them. This hotel sets the standards high and I’m so thankful that they gave me the opportunity to review them and share the word!
Until March Vancouver – Thank you for the fun experiences!
